Items You May be Forgetting to Pack in Your Luggage

The time has finally come and you are ready to take off for your vacation. However, when you finally arrive at your destination you realize you forgot to pack something vital in your luggage. Be honest, has this every happened to you? If so, you know how mind-numbingly annoying it is. No matter how prepared you thought you were, you ended up completely overlooking something that put a damper on your vacation. While it’s hard to predict every little item you will need to pack in your suitcase, here are some that you may overlook and shouldn’t. Please note, nothing too obvious (such as clothes and food) will be addressed here.

Any Medical or Safety Items

The one thing that you can never predict (no matter how hard you try) is when you will end up getting ill. Hopefully, you won’t end up catching something while on vacation. But, in the unfortunate circumstance that you do, it’s convenient if you have a wide range of pills and medicine in your suitcase. Sure, you could just end up going to a pharmacy or a store but what happens if the closest one isn’t for several miles? The easy solution is to pack remedies for casual illness (upset stomach, headache, fever, etc.). In the instance of an injury, it’s also not a bad idea to pack a first-aid kit. Ever since you were a kid, chances are you have had it drilled in your cranium to pack a first-aid kit wherever you go. You know, it’s not bad advice.

Components for Your Electronics

With the way technology has taken over the world, you probably are going to pack some electronics on a vacation. This is not what you might end up forgetting, it’s the components that go with it. What good is your laptop if you forget to pack the power cable? The same thing can be said for your smartphone. It sure would be inconvenient to have to dish out twenty dollars for a phone charger, wouldn’t it? Of course, it’s even not a bad idea to pack extra batteries (for electronics that run on them) because you never know when they will run out of juice.

Beach Accessories

While not all vacations involve spending an extended period of time at a beach, it’s fair to assume that most will. This means that you will want to pack all of the necessary accessories that you will need at the beach. For example, if you are an individual who burns easily it would be wise to pack sunscreen. Depending on where you go, it may be much more expensive if purchased there. To protect yourself from the light of the sun, you may want to pack sunglasses or a hat. As a matter of fact, even if you want extra entertainment you could pack a sports ball or frisbee. Anything that you can think of that would be useful at the beach, you should stuff in your luggage without a moment’s hesitation.

Umbrella (Depending on the Weather)

Alright, so let’s say you have planned your vacation for months and can’t reschedule under any circumstance. In other words, you’re going even if an earthquake is set to strike. OK, so that’s a little extreme but what if you have to deal with constant rain? No matter if you prepare, rain could put a damper on your vacation regardless. However, to make it less of a bear you should make room for an umbrella. The best thing you can do is to check what the weather (for whatever location you’re going to) will be like for the time you are spending there. If it calls for heavy rain most of the time, then pack something that will keep you from getting wet (umbrella, raincoat, etc.)

Personal Hygiene Products

Speaking of something that you don’t want to have to pay for elsewhere (as you don’t know the rates), you should always pack enough personal hygiene products to last you the entire vacation. Some, but not all, to consider packing would be shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, body spray, body wash, toothpaste, and cologne. Unless you are staying for a month, one bottle of each should last so you don’t have to pack a bunch of each. However, you don’t want to end up paying the resort’s outrageous prices.

Congratulations, you are now one step closer to knowing exactly what to pack for a huge vacation. Most of the essentials were not addressed, but those should be obvious for you.
